Rapid response, effective communication and a biosecurity plan averted spread of an Equine Herpesvirus outbreak at a Virginia horse show in June and prevented cancellation of subsequent horse shows across the nation.
Acquire lessons learned from recent disease outbreaks at equestrian events as well as tips for effective response to the initial case on an event premise from United States Equestrian Federation (USEF) senior staff veterinarian Dr. Katie Flynn. Discussion will include the infectious disease risks unique to equestrian events as well as the role of the veterinarian in developing event biosecurity plans and providing guidance to competitions concerning biosecurity measures.
No RACE CE credit.
